Student Enrollment Forms
Child’s Voice is approved by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) to provide specialized education for contracting school districts. We provide the education that school districts are not able to provide. Although Child’s Voice is classified as a ‘nonpublic’ or ‘private’ school we are held to almost all requirements public schools are held.
The family’s HOME school has the primary responsibility under state law to provide a free appropriate public education (FAPE) for each of their residents. Child’s Voice is paid by the school district to assist in upholding the law. Your school district pays our daily rate which is set by ISBE to provide this service. The daily rate is set annually. This year your school district has agreed to pay the daily rate of $247.02 for the 2015-2016 school year (177 school days plus 20 extended school year/summer days if approved).
Therefore it is now Child’s Voice responsibility that your child is properly enrolled at Child’s Voice and all necessary paperwork is complete by the time school commences. That’s why it’s so important we have all your enrollment completed at the start of the year.
Child’s Voice has tried to reduce the headaches of the past enrollment process of completing ‘umpteen’ pages each and every year. We collect much of the same information public schools collect but we also request specific information related to deafness. I know for some of you our enrollment process actually has created MORE headaches then not. I am sorry.
The ideal and goal is you enroll your child once. Perhaps this takes place while you receive our Early Intervention services. Goal #1: Complete Child’s Voice enrollment. Goal #2: Update information annually. Goal #3: Parents are happy/Child’s Voice is happy.
For the majority of you all goals have been met!! Win-Win. Happy-Happy.
